Description
The assignment: Ace my homework – Write a critical review of “LON MARUM (2013)” (or the media campaign). This should include:
A BRIEF (think 1/4 of the length of the paper AT MOST; could definitely be shorter) description of the film (not a full summary of the plot). For instance, consider including:
What is the setting of the film?
Who or what does the film follow?
What is being presented (thematically, ethnographically, etc.) in the film?
What is the primary point/argument/takeaway/question of the film?
How are the following two questions: “What if, instead of thinking of Pacific Island Nations as drowning, we think of them as fighting?” and “What might we understand in new ways if we see the world from a Pacific perspective(s)?”
addressed in this film, elaborated upon, or illuminated
Does the film suggest an answer the questions?
Keeping all of the above in mind, discuss the ways that the film exemplifies, challenges, supplements, furthers, etc., reading (readings are uploaded along with a sample critical film review)
