Option #1: Focus on Steel
This week, you need to turn in what you prepared for your Portfolio Project so far along with a new writing on the steel aspects of your building. As such, you need to improve and resubmit what you turned in in Week 3 based on your instructor’s feedback, along with sections for concrete (as you developed in Week 4), masonry (as you developed in Week 5), and a new section for steel. Your work should be presented in an organized manner and it should incorporate any constructive feedback provided by your instructor in previous sections. Here are the topics you need to cover for the section of your Portfolio Project about steel in approximately 3 pages:
Specify components and their types (e.g., steel frame, light gauge steel frame)
Size and type selection criteria
Connection types used
Safety precautions taken in selection and use of the steel structures
Construction methods and equipment used
Quality control measures
Prepare your work using at least one of this week’s recommended readings and two outside credible references (a peer-reviewed, current scholarly article published in the last five years, references not to include required or recommended reading assignments or textbook). The CSU-Global Library is a good place to find these resources.
