NUR3101: Primary Health Care in a Global Context-PPT Project.
Primary health care (PHC) is a system of health care that is based on the principle that all individuals and communities have the right to the highest possible level of health. It is a comprehensive and integrated approach to health care that focuses on the health needs of the entire population and seeks to address the underlying social, economic, and environmental determinants of health.
In a global context, PHC is important because it can help to reduce health disparities and improve the health of disadvantaged populations. It can also help to reduce the burden of disease and improve overall health outcomes. PHC is delivered through a network of health care providers, including community health workers, nurses, and doctors, and can include a range of services, such as preventive care, diagnostic services, treatment, and rehabilitation.
One of the key goals of PHC is to ensure that all individuals and communities have access to affordable, quality health care. This includes addressing issues such as lack of access to health care facilities, inadequate staffing, and inadequate funding.
PHC also plays a crucial role in addressing global health challenges, such as infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, and environmental health issues. It can help to reduce the transmission of infectious diseases through vaccination programs and other preventive measures, and can also help to address the social and economic factors that contribute to the burden of non-communicable diseases.
