In the following module, we will discuss the various types of violent crime and their
causes. We will consider factors that predispose individuals to committing acts of
violence and the emerging forms of violence in contemporary society.
Additionally, we will examine the various forms and causes of property crime in society,
considering the history of these crimes and their modern form.
We will conclude with a discussion of white-collar crime, including cyber and organized
crime and a description and assessment of attempts to control and safeguard against
such crime. We will examine the impacts and consequences of violent, property, and
white-collar crimes.
