Type a thesis-controlled essay with multiple paragraphs based on one of the two prompts below.
First, look at the “Houston: It’s Worth It (Links to an external site.)” website, and read some of the comments people made. Then type a short essay in which you do the following:
Option 1: Try to persuade an audience of disbelievers that Houston’s many faults are worth it, and why (and the “why” is important). You should probably note some of those faults, but you should also concentrate on one or two very positive qualities you think Houston has. Try also to give readers some idea of your personal relationship to Houston and your “history” with it, as well as how you see it, what it gives you, what it doesn’t, etc.

Option 2: Try to persuade an audience of disbelievers that despite some of its positive aspects, Houston is, as many people think, the mosquito-ridden hellhole that it is. You should probably at least briefly note some of its positive qualities, but you should also concentrate on one or two very negative qualities you think Houston has to fully convince your audience. Try also to give readers some idea of your personal relationship to Houston and your “history” with it, as well as how you see it, what it gives you or doesn’t, and so forth.
