It has been more than one hundred years since the fateful day in Sarajevo when Archduke Franz Ferdinand’s assassination changed the course of history. It is impossible to make sense of World War I without being aware of the after-effects of the war and its peace: global economic depression, political instability, and the rise of right-wing fascism in Italy, Spain, and Germany. While often overshadowed by the Second World War that came after, the effects of World War I are still all around us .

In preparation for this discussion, read the Module Notes, Coming Home (https://www.theworldwar.org/explore/exhibitions/online-exhibitions/coming-home), at least one article from The Great War: A 100-Year Legacy of World War I (https://monkessays.com/write-my-essay/nytimes.com/interactive/2014/06/27/world/legacy-of-world-war-i.html?_r=2.), and view Cost of World War I (http://vlib.excelsior.edu/login?url=http://fod.infobase.com/PortalPlaylists.aspx?wID=103647&xtid=43124&loid=99436) and Remembering & Understanding, Part 1 (Http://vlib.excelsior.edu/login?url=http://fod.infobase.com/PortalPlaylists.aspx?wID=103647&xtid=111612&loid=405159.).

Then, in an initial post of at least 750 words discuss the following:

·         What do you think was the most significant impact of World War I in the 20th century?

·         How are the events of 1914-1918 still felt ? In what ways have past events shaped nations’ collective memories of World War I?

Your initial post must use evidence from the assigned readings, including at least two full citations in proper APA style.
