This assignment will let you come prepared to Tuesday’s class with some contextual knowledge of the practices we will discuss: Happenings and the art of the Situationist International, two important aesthetic and philosophical precedents for audience engagement later in the 20th and 21st centuries. You will work on Kaprow. For the text which your group has been assigned, compose a 200-word summary. Then provide an additional approximately 200 word biographical and contextual statement about who each of these authors were and the time in which they lived. Feel free briefly to discuss critical responses to their work. Provide a list of at least three sources, including books, articles, and reputable websites from which you’ve drawn your research. Wikipedia can be useful to get you oriented but is not an appropriate source to cite in written academic work.
