In the next three (3) weeks you will be asked to keep record of your time using this time management tool – Week at a Glance Time Monitor. The main purpose of this activity is not for the sake of doing an activity, but rather it is an opportunity to discover how you use your time or waste time, or plan time.
For this time monitoring exercise, take a detailed look at how you spend your time. You are to fill out the form completely.
monitor your activities in interval of 30 minutes (15 mins. if you have two activities in one time slot, split the space to record both, example – washing/dress up) for each day and record the categories
Categories could be: sleep, eat, class, work, study, appointments, travel(by walking, bus, bike, driving), grooming, movie, entertainment, phone, shopping TV, children, other family role
You start at 5:00 a.m. daily (for some you are still sleeping, so you record “sleep” in the slot)
You do not need to repeat words, for instance, if you sleep from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. you can type “sleep” but draw a line from start to the end of the activity.
Each week there will be a separate question on the time monitor, so it is important that you track your time every day to help you see what behavior can be changed, improved, or valued for the purpose of attaining your goal.
