Encounters between humans and supernatural beings
Responses should be 600-800 words, double-spaced, 12pt. font.
and should analyze and question the material as opposed to
summarizing or describing it. If you choose, you may write an
adaptation of the primary text in lieu of standard literary analysis.
For instance, you can adapt a story or character into a present-day
setting, or adapt a short story into a film. For the creative option
the page-length requirement is the same. As with the standard
literary analysis, you’ll need to include direct references to the
original text, including page number citations.
This response should analyze “The Jewel of the Fox’s Tongue,”
“The Nine-tailed Fox,” and/or “The Fox-Girl and Her Brother.” If you
choose to discuss more than one story, focus on a point of
intersection between them. Try to offer a critical interpretation,
rather than a description or summary of the material.
